Greek Language Holidays in Kavala

greece-sea

Grecophone’s intensive language courses in Kavala have proven to be one of the most effective ways of learning Greek whilst on holiday in this beautiful city. This is achieved by incorporating a comprehensive learning structure into each day. Our Greek courses consist of three hours tuition per morning. Students then have the opportunity to explore the area and sample the Greek culture whilst practicing their newly acquired language skills and interacting with the locals.

All courses include:

  • Tuition at any level with native speaking professional tutors.
  • Accommodation and meals.
  • The option of organised group excursions

The following is a letter sent to the “GREECE” magazine by a previous student describing her experiences on a Grecophone course:

Learning the Lingo

“Thank you SO much for introducing us to George Howell and Grecophone Language Holidays. My husband and I moved to Crete in October after years of planning and have looked for a language course that would suit us. We saw your article and George’s advert and decided that we would “give it a try”. We drove over using the ferry and after a tiring journey George greeted us and looked after us with typical Greek hospitality. Throughout our stay he fed us until we burst with simple Greek fare (his meatballs in tomato are wonderful) and the accommodation was clean and comfortable. The lessons were intense and challenging – we had a class of three, all with different learning styles – and George adapted to us all, allowing us to progress through the maze of language structure that we all take for granted with English. We have come away with an understanding of how the language works, the conjugation of verbs and genders for everything! We now need time to practice and improve our vocabulary – something that we can do here in Crete, with the knowledge that we can at least make ourselves understood. We would never have got to this stage so quickly if left to our own devices to study locally nor if we had attended lessons on a weekly basis.

If you want to improve your Greek and stay in beautiful surroundings this is the way to do it. Kavala itself is a working fishing port with a picturesque old town overlooked by a hilltop castle and with many delightful sandy beaches in the vicinity. Close by is the holiday island of Thassos and the ancient city of Philippi is only a short drive away.

Now it is time to practice, practice, practice, so that we can integrate fully into the life of our chosen island home. Once again thank you GREECE Magazine and thank you George.”
